Salim Abu Ar-Ru'us    

        Near the well we climbed a dune and Salim immediately pointed out a dune near the first khor, Khor Abu Gabr, about six straight miles away. I was astonished by Salim’s knowledge of the country and asked Khamis how he did it. He replied, "He has lived here since he was a little boy. He has a good heart and a good head. Some men forget, but Salim is a correct man and when one lives in a place all the time, winter and summer, he must know the place or he dies."
        This place of Salim’s is about the size of the state of North Dakota and he seems to know every dune as though it were his brother.
